Key takeaways
- A crash game is a rising multiplier that stops at a random crash point, decided before the round begins.
- Cash out before the crash to win stake × multiplier. Miss it and you lose the stake.
- The chance of reaching any multiplier x is about RTP ÷ x, e.g. 97% ÷ 2 ≈ 48.5% for 2x.
- Every round is independent. History, timing and "patterns" don't predict anything.

What is a crash game?
A crash game is an online casino game built around one number: a multiplier that starts at 1.00x and rises faster and faster until, at a random moment, it crashes.
Before the round you place a bet. While the multiplier climbs you can cash out at any time and collect your stake multiplied by the current number. If the round crashes before you cash out, you lose your stake.
The theme changes from game to game: a plane in Aviator (the game Zimbabweans call Kandege), a jet in JetX, an astronaut in Spaceman, an airship in Zeppelin. Underneath, the engine is the same.
Anatomy of a round
- Betting window (5–10 seconds)Everyone places bets for the coming round. Most games allow two bets at once.
- Take-offThe multiplier starts at 1.00x and grows. All players watch the same round live.
- Cash out or crashPress Cash Out (or let auto cash-out do it) to win stake × multiplier. When the crash point is reached, every bet still running is lost.
- Next roundA new round with a brand-new, independent crash point begins seconds later.
A worked example
You bet $1 on a round of Aviator and set auto cash-out at 2.00x.
| If the round crashes at… | What happens | Result |
|---|---|---|
| 1.00x (instant) | Crashed before you could cash out | −$1.00 |
| 1.73x | Crashed before your 2.00x target | −$1.00 |
| 2.00x or higher | Auto cash-out pays 2 × $1 | +$1.00 profit |
| 48.20x | You still only get 2.00x: you'd already cashed out | +$1.00 profit |
That last row is the emotional trap of crash games. Seeing the plane fly on to 48x after you've cashed out makes you want to wait longer next time. Waiting longer only trades win frequency for win size.
Where does the crash point come from?
The crash point is decided before the round starts. It is not influenced by how many people bet, how much they bet or when they cash out. Two methods are common:
- Provably fair (Aviator, Aviatrix, Zeppelin and others): the result comes from combining a secret server seed with player seeds, and a hash of the server seed is published before the round so it can be checked afterwards. How it works →
- Certified RNG (JetX, Spaceman and others): a random number generator tested by independent labs produces each result.
Either way, the numbers follow a known distribution: the chance a round reaches multiplier x is roughly RTP ÷ x.
The odds in one chart
Double the target and you halve the chance of reaching it. That balance is why no cash-out target is "better" than another in the long run. The full explanation is in RTP & house edge.
Five myths to forget now
- "It's due a big one." Each round is independent. Ten low rounds in a row don't make the next one higher.
- "Play at quiet times." The time of day has no effect on the result.
- "The game sees my bet and crashes early." Results are fixed before bets close, and provably fair games let you verify it.
- "This app predicts the crash." It doesn't, and it's a scam.
- "Martingale can't lose." It can, and it does so in big chunks. See the maths.
Try it yourself
The fastest way to understand a crash game is to watch a few rounds. This simulator uses demo credits and the same maths as a 97% RTP game:
Rounds 0 · Won 0 · Lost 0 · Net +0.00 · Crash points use the same 97% RTP maths as the real game. Past rounds never predict the next one.
Frequently asked questions
Why are they called crash games?
Because every round ends with a sudden "crash", when the plane flies away, the jet explodes or the rocket blows up. The name comes from early crypto games where a chart literally crashed, like a stock market crash.
Is a crash game a slot?
No. A slot gives you a random result when you spin and you make no decisions. In a crash game you choose when to cash out, and many players share the same round. Both are still games of chance with a built-in house edge.
Is a crash game skill or luck?
Luck decides where each round crashes. Your skill is only in managing risk: picking cash-out targets, stake sizes and when to stop. No skill can change the odds of the round itself.
How long does a crash game round last?
Usually 10–40 seconds including the betting window. A round that crashes at 1.00x is over instantly, and very high multipliers can take a minute or more.
